Ethan J. Kaplan is a private tutor based in New York City. He has been teaching and tutoring for more than a decade, starting as a lecturer at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Queens College before shifting gears into the high-pressure world of Manhattan test prep and academic tutoring.

 

Ethan graduated with a 3.86 GPA from Hunter College High School and graduated Magna cum Laude at Northwestern University, where he was the recipient of the Marion Mayer Bergin and J.G. Nolan Scholarships for academic excellence. Ethan also prides himself on practicing what he preaches and has achieved startling success on his own standardized tests in recent years, including a perfect score of 340 on the GRE in 2020 and a 790 on the GMAT in 2021 with a perfect score of 51 on the Quantitative section. He is also a published author and playwright and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens College, where he taught undergraduate sections of Intro to Nonfiction.

Ethan has co-authored and contributed to textbooks on the SAT, ACT, SHSAT, SSAT, and ISEE and has served as a tutor trainer, mentor, curriculum developer, and editor at Bespoke Education, one of the most prestigious test prep companies in Manhattan. He is a founding member of the Independent Tutor Cooperative, through which he collaborates with some of the most accomplished tutors in the world.
